Good Evening residents, CHARNWOOD NORTH NL59 WEEKLY UPDATE Following numerous reports from residents regarding suspected drug activity and anti-social behaviour (ASB) at an address in Sileby, PC 1343 Charlotte Barrowcliffe attended and issued a Section 8 Warning to the tenant. This preventative measure is designed to address concerns around drug-related activity and deter further incidents at the property. Just a few days later, further reports were received indicating that the address had been taken over by individuals who were not the tenants. PC Barrowcliffe, supported by colleagues, attended the location and worked with relevant partners to secure the property. The locks were changed and all individuals who were not tenants were removed, helping to restore security and reassurance for local residents. Proactive Patrols Regular patrols have continued by the beat team in and around Sileby Memorial Park and the surrounding roads. During one patrol, officers stopped an e-bike and carried out checks, confirming that it was being used legally. A second e-bike rider failed to stop when requested and made off towards Gibson Road. Despite an extensive search of the area, the rider was not located. Tackling Neighbourhood Issues PC Barrowcliffe has also been working to resolve a number of ongoing and historic neighbourhood disputes. Using an incremental problem-solving approach, efforts continue to address community concerns, improve relationships between neighbours, and prevent issues from escalating. We would like to thank residents for continuing to report concerns and support local policing efforts. Your information helps us identify issues, take positive action, and keep our communities safe. Partnership Working to Tackle ASB PC Barrowcliffe has also been working alongside Charnwood Borough Council to address concerns raised by residents on a local street where reports of street drinking and loud arguments were occurring at various times throughout the day and night. Joint visits were conducted with the Charnwood Borough Council Anti-Social Behaviour Officer to speak directly with residents and discuss the impact the behaviour was having on the wider community. Following these visits, warning letters were issued to all households involved, highlighting the concerns raised and outlining expectations moving forward.
Beat Priorities We have received reports of ASB including the misuse of e-bikes, and groups throwing eggs, kicking doors and damaging vehicles. What we are going to do: Conduct extra patrols in the area and identify offenders with a view of seizing the bikes that are causing the issues. Increase in Patrols in the evening and deployment of ASB car to target the persons involved. What we have done: We have recently issued two warning letters in relation to the use of e-bikes and reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the area. Officers are currently reviewing information and CCTV footage to help identify individuals involved in the misuse of e-bikes. Regular patrols are being carried out in Memorial Park and the surrounding parks to address reports of anti-social behaviour and concerns relating to e-bikes.
Burglaries remain a priority for the beat team, and we will be looking to reduce this with the high visibility patrols within targeted areas. What we are going to do We will carry out high visibility patrols in identified hotspot areas to deter offenders and offer reassurance to the community. Officers will engage with victims and nearby residents to provide crime prevention advice and discuss suitable security measures. We will work alongside partner agencies and local groups to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen home security across the area. Targeted enquiries and intelligence led activities will be conducted to identify suspects and disrupt burglary related offending. Officers will liaise with the community of those affected to provide crime prevention advice and discuss security measures.
There have been ongoing concerns regarding vehicle speeds within the Sileby area, raised by both residents and local stakeholders. The Beat Team will work to address these concerns through the use of high-visibility speed enforcement and monitoring in identified hotspot locations. We will continue to engage with the community to raise awareness of road safety, provide education around responsible driving, and work with partners to identify and implement appropriate measures to improve safety for all road users.
What we are going to do We have been actively collating residents' concerns and information regarding speeding issues in key locations across Sileby and other parts of the beat to help identify hotspot areas and inform our problem-solving approach. The Beat Team has also worked with relevant departments to deploy the speed camera enforcement van at identified locations within Sileby, targeting areas where concerns have been most frequently reported. We will continue to carry out targeted speed checks and high-visibility patrols in hotspot locations, providing a visible police presence, educating road users, and taking enforcement action where appropriate to improve road safety and address community concerns.
